Marco Anelli  –  In Your Eyes.

Portraits in the Presence of Marina Abramovic

The exhibition "In Your Eyes – Portraits in the Presence of Marina Abramovic" shows photographs Marco Anelli took during Marina Abramovic's Performance The Artist is Present. The artist sat in the hall of the MoMA New York for 75 days. Visitors were able to sit across from Abramovic for a self-determined period and look her in the eyes. Looks were the only permitted form of interaction. Some stayed for just a few minutes, others would sit across from Abramovic for up to seven hours.

This intensity between artist and visitor was interesting for Anelli, who portrayed all 1545 faces throughout the duration of the performance (716 hours). Anelli's work is not a soil-less report, but a search for the most intense look of the counterpart and the feeling that is revealed in it. Accidental visitors alternate with famous persons like Lou Reed, Sharon Stone and Björk in Anelli's portraits.

Summer Academy 2012
This year, the summer academy will take place during the RAY Fotografieprojekte Frankfurt/RheinMain, also taking over its content focus of TIME.

This year's seminar will be headed by artists Kathrin Günter, Nina Berman, Eva Leitolf and James Mollison, who are also represented in the main exhibition by RAY "MAKING HISTORY", and others.

Other lecturers and workshop managers include Hans Hansen, Wolf Böwig, Göran Gnaudschun, Andrea Künzig, Wolfgang Zurborn, Alessandra Capodacqua, Anja Niedringhaus and Roman Bezjak.
